Growing up in Colorado there is a wonderful Balloon festival Memorial Day weekend. I remember crisp early mornings, colorful balloons, and impressive sights. With the series of Hot Air Balloons I have attempted to capture a bit of whimsy and color that remind me of, not only my childhood, but the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede in Washington as well.
The piece above is made with a variety of materials including paper, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and pen. I enjoy the process of collage and I find as I put together a piece it emerges into it’s own unique piece. No two pieces are ever the same.
